What Are Tube Manufacturers Really Looking For?
The second day of Tube China 2026 is underway in Shanghai, and conversations at the MIVI booth continue to focus on one important question: What does a tube manufacturer really need from a new production line?
For many visitors, the answer is not simply “a bigger machine” or “a faster machine.”
Pipe size range, wall thickness, steel material, production volume, factory space, automation level and future product plans all influence the final tube mill configuration.

Start With the Pipes You Produce Most Often
When discussing an ERW tube mill project, one of the first things our team wants to understand is the customer's main production range.
A manufacturer may want the flexibility to produce many different pipe sizes. However, this does not always mean that one large machine should cover every possible size.
If most production is concentrated on smaller round, square or rectangular tubes, choosing an oversized line only for occasional larger products can increase the initial investment and operating cost.
This is why MIVI prefers to discuss actual production requirements before recommending a tube mill model.
More Than Just a Machine
Visitors to our booth are also discussing existing production problems and future upgrades.
These conversations can involve forming accuracy, welding stability, roll tooling, cutting systems, production speed and tube mill consumables such as ferrite rods, impeders, PTFE tubes, induction coils and saw blades.
For an existing tube mill, replacing the complete production line is not always necessary.
Sometimes customized rollers, better consumable selection, equipment adjustment or an upgrade to one section of the line can provide a more practical solution.
